"...............there remaineth yet much land to be possessed" Joshua 13:1
It's a bright new day, brighter new week and obviously would be the brightest of months you have ever experienced. Here's one charge God reiterated to the ears of Joshua in Joshua 13:1 KJV "Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed." What a statement !! Together, let's look at what the statement entails.
Joshua, a man of War who took the baton of leadership from one of (if not) the greatest leaders Israel ever had, Moses. Joshua was instrumental in myriads of victories during the time of Moses with his victory over the Amalekites standing out. In this victory, Moses had to stay his hands up for victory to be given to Israel. Moses performed the spiritual aspect while Joshua was physically fighting the battle on the battlefield. What a synergy between these two !!! After Moses was gone, Joshua leading the children of Israel had series of victories and experiences. You would recall that it was during the time of Joshua the Sun and Moon had their physical position altered. Joshua was truly a man of War.
Here was Joshua receiving a command from the Lord concerning the magnitude of the land before them yet to be conquered. But age was not on his side, the man of War was waxing old. Did God tell him to go to his bed, rest, sleep and forget about the remaining lands? No, he didn't instead he gave him an outline of how to establish the rest task. Planning, strategic planning was what the Lord gave to him and in 10 chapters, the task was done. In Joshua 23:1 KJV, the Bible says *And it came to pass a long time after that the Lord had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age." What a Man !!! I don't know what you have been going through in January down to May but what I know is, the Lord says "........there remaineth yet much land to be possessed". Look to him for solution and your days would be brighter and better. Keep moving.
Happy New Month all.
