A heart check is needed at every point in time because where you were yesterday is not where you are now. There will always be a change which could be negative or positive. The Bible said in Matthew 6:21 ”For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. Where is your heart? Is your heart focused on self, the world or God? Who is Lord over your heart? Who your heart is focused on is the one you worship. If your treasure is in God then your heart will be fixed on him and if your treasure is in the world, your heart will definitely be fixed on the world.
It is very important to check our thoughts and desires, the person you esteem most is the one you worship. God should always be at the center of our thoughts and every other thoughts should come from Him, because He is the source of excellent thoughts; Philippians 4:8 says finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
What is competing with God in your life, is it the world or the things of the world? Nothing should separate us from God; not even tribulations, famine or any thing called pain, because we have been made conquerors in Christ. You might have beenvcrying in your closet that you want to serve Him, but you are finding it hard to let go. Jesus told the rich man in Matthew 19:21 to sell all his possessions and give to the poor and He will have treasure in heaven, but the rich man walked away because he had a great wealth and he didn’t want to loose it, which means you have to let go of things of this world, to get God. It is either the devil or God, no one can serve two masters; you can’t even sit on the fence. What has darkness have to do with light?
Apostle Paul said something powerful in Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
The moment you declared Christ as your Lord, you no longer live the way you want, but as the life of (Jesus Christ) in you prompts, because you were created for the praises of his glory and to please Him.
It’s a decision you have to make, forget about your worries, pains, tribulations. You can lay all this at his feet. You have nothing to loose in this life because all things work together for the good of those that loves God, but all He wants is for you to give Him a chance to take over you completely.
The only reasonable service/worship is when you lay yourself on the altar of Yahweh and give yourself as an Offering(Romans12:1).
He loves it when you come as you are and you say Lord this is me, take me, I give you my all
