10 strangest laws in schools around the world

School is basically a place where we get educated and enlightened. Schools come in different types from Day to Boarding, from single sex to mixed breed schools. Rules are regulations are set to ensure total compliance to Law and Order. Here are 10 strangest rules in schools around the world.

    1. No Best Friend: Schools in UK have set a rule against having a best friend. According to them, best friends fights always leaves depression and anxiety as aftermath effect. So in order to curb this menace, you can have a friend but no bestie is allowed

    2. No touching allowed: Schools in Canada as well as institutions in Connecticut and Florida in the US and other parts of England do not allow touching of any kind among students. According to them, touching could lead from physical contact to emotional connection, a system they are battling hard to avoid. Anyways with the current COVID-19 outbreak, I think this is what all schools should adopt. We just hi and hello from a distance and shun hi fives, handshakes and hugs.

    3. No deodorant: At sometimes as students, we could be tempted to avoid taking a bath and cling on to deodorant as a rescuer. This is not allowed in schools in Pennsylvania state of the USA. The rule was brought when a student suffered an allergy after inhaling the smell of deodorant.

    4. No red color of clothing for teachers: The color 'red' is signify a number of unpleasant characters from it's display in Angry Bird to Inside Out, 'red' has always signified aggressiveness, anger etc. Therefore, teachers in the UK have been asked not to put on the color red.

    5. No sauce in schools: The French government have banned the use of sauce in schools in France objecting that the use of sauce in schools is causing a paradigm shift of their culture to becoming that of America. Another word for sauce is what we call stew.

    6. Nap Time: Sleep as we know is a high intellectual activity as it helps relax the muscles of our brain and breeds healthier mental capability. This is an adopted culture in China as students are requies do sleep at least 30mins during a regular school day. No wonder China has such great thinkers.

    7. Gender Segregation: Predominant in ISIS controlled region like Iraq, boys and girls are not allowed to study together. This invariably means female teachers teach female students and makes do same.

    8. Good luck charms: In Japan, there are various superstitious beliefs and good luck charm seems to be the antidote to wave them away. Schools in Japan allow just one good luck charm, either a bracelet, a bangle, a necklace etc, just one. They believe students should all have a playing field as good luck could be the factor one student could have over another.

    9. No raising of hands: Raising of hands when a question is asked is a common practice in schools but in Nottinghamshire, you should never raise your hand. They believe that when a question is asked, only those who know the answer would raise their hands leaving those who don't have an idea depressed.

    10. Gender inclusiveness: Words like Boys and Girls, Male and female have been banned in Lincoln schools as they cause gender Segregation. The teachers have been advised to use words like students, campers etc

Which of these rules shocked you the most? Mine was the no best friend rule. If I have a secret best friend, would the school know? Do well to drop your comments and share this post.
