Barcelona vice president Jordi Cardoner has tested positive for the Covid 19 virus, according to reports from Metropoli Abierta, via Marca.
The 57-year old Catalan native is reportedly the third person connected with the club to test positive in the last two weeks.
Approaching midday on Saturday in Spain, the Catalan sports daily newspaper relayed information obtained by Metrópoli Abierta, which detailed how Cardoner had become the third figure at the club after director of medical services Ramon Canal and Josep Antoni Gutierrez, the handball first team’s doctor, to be stricken by the disease.
Via Joan Poqui, Mundo Deportivo “has been able to confirm that he [Cardoner] is recovering satisfactorily” after passing the first few days of sickness “without complications”.
The club executive is apparently in good health and self isolating at home and has also managed to participate in online club meetings.
No Barcelona players have tested positive for the infection, after La Blaugrana opted to cease all training and club activities on March 11, following updated public health advice.
