The
presidency on Monday, said Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, would still remain
the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential
election. The senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity,
Garba Shehu, disclosed this in an interview with State House correspondents at
the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The presidential spokesman said the victories
recorded by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the legislative
elections held in three states over the weekend were indications that victory
is certain for the Buhari/Osinbajo presidential ticket in 2019. NAIJ.com
previously reported that Governor Rochas Okorocha inaugurated the Imo state
chapter of President Muhammadu Buhari re-election campaign council in the
southeast geopolitical zone. Okorocha, who was represented by his chief of
staff, Uche Nwosu, at the inauguration ceremony held in Owerri on Sunday,
August 12, boasted that the APC would win all the elective seats in the state
in 2019. He said that the campaign
council which would be chaired by a former commissioner, Charles Amadi, with
Chidi Ibe as the director general. Meanwhile, an international public affairs
analyst, Boladale Adekoya, has advised the leadership of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) to do everything within their power to ensure the emergence of
Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2019 election.
Adekoya said this in an interview saying if the PDP is serious about defeating
the APC, it should ensure that Atiku emerged its flagbearer.
