How A Weak PDP Can Defeat Buhari's Unstable APC In 2023 Presidential Election

Last month on the 29th, President Buhari clocked a year in office for his second term and 5 years of his total time in Aso rock. During his first campaign, the President outlined many promises that spelt progress for the country. This moved all and sundry to shun political apathy and vote for a man who has contested the same election 3 times before. The 2015 election was not just about the party but about the person, the President, the anti-corruption crusader, Muhammadu Buhari. So for the first time in 16 years, PDP lost the horns of leadership to a meager of about 5 great political parties; CPC, APGA, ACN, ANPP and the New PDP. The victory was landslide, children danced in the streets, Christians organised Thanksgiving services, hope was in the horizon, a change was on the way.

5 years down and it seems all the same. The present ruling party is following just the exact footsteps the PDP tolled while they were at the helms of affair, the 'blame game' trail. PDP blamed the military government for all it's failures and APC is presently blaming the PDP for same.

Now more than ever, the APC is going through the same crisis the PDP went through that brought an end to it's rule. Internal crisis. The Obaseki defection to PDP tells a lot about how disorganized the ruling party is. APC have to win election and like it's under fire Chairman, Adams Oshomole once said in a video 'those who cannot stand the pain of rigging should not bother contesting'. How then can the PDP take charge of the country national and most important seat in 2023?

Just like any democracy, the PDP needs to first do away with the present crop of politicians. The face of the PDP is masked by those who are in the books of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) (one of President Buhari's APC watchdogs). There is a need for fresh blood in the system. If the PDP can do this, then maybe we can begin to believe a few of the words they say.

Also, the PDP needs to man up to all the mistake they made and apologize to Nigeria. Rather than comparing, we should understand that we can never move forward by pointing accusing fingers. The PDP has to start on a fresh note because like every relationship, this one has bends and turns.

One thing Jimi Agbaje of Lagos got wrongly, is the fact that he continues to hid in his shell after his losses any election and only comes out when there's another. PDP needs to start making big plans for 2023 and these plans must start right now.

With all these, I believe PDP can have a shot at the Presidency once again after 8 years come 2023.
