CERTIFICATE

One word that easily summons up all the struggle 

All the sleepless nights and candle wax heaped up

All the frustration from studying without getting the desired results 

Frequently having to hear someone say "Hey man you haven't studied enough"

"There's another eBook, another course"

"Another topic, you haven't read that one"

"If you don't, you can't get the "A" you looking for'

I can't get it all in man, tomorrow's the exam

"You don't have to be so uptight, you numskull"

"A little paper, write everything in it, you don't have to worry nothing's gonna happen"

Who pass nai know book, anything goes

All to gain a paper, with some special letters engraved in it

The special paper, the golden pass, the "certificate"

They say it makes one enlightened and refined

Knowledgeable and recognized 

Above all, a ticket to the life one desires 

Comfort and satisfaction with each paycheck 

Not having to worry about the possibility of poverty and hunger

Walking into one's yard and taking full charge 

But sadly, it is said that an expectation too high,

Eventually gets cut down

Left to right, every turn, every corner 

Someone with more than one of this special paper

Lurking in the streets struggling to get by 

Running around each day with application letters 

Where's the dream life? The promises, the good life?

Where's are the fruits of the hard labour, the paycheck and the smiles?

Nowhere to be found, just uncertainty and confusion all around 

Some call it the reality of life 

Some call it the unfairness of life(life is not fair they say)

Others say "Hey come on, look on the bright side" 

"At least we have it bagged"

But truly speaking, 

All we truly have and we hold onto is "HOPE"

'Hope' that it will all work out and everything will be alright

'Hope' that since its taking time, the paycheck will be fatter

'Hope' that even without having or using the certificate, we'll still live the dream-life... 

And that maybe, just maybe "HOPE IS ALL WE NEED"
