TEXT :
Ezra 8:21
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
Everything you do as long as you are born again, you must see the next generations in it.
Ezra and others began seeking the Lord not just for them but for their young one. They had the next generation in mind. They are conscious that whatever foundation they lay now will surpass them to the generations unborn.
Whatever you are doing, whether you are aware or not, they will automatically affect at least 3 generations after you.
A generation is 100 years.
Whatever you have found in your lineage, if you leave it to chance, you will certainly repeat the same cycle. LIFE IS BEYOND YOU!.
You must not pass curses to your children and children's children.
Live your life circumspectly.
Levi was in Abraham's loins when he paid a tithe to Melchizedek. Abraham's tithe covered Levi (4th generation).
*LIVE YOUR LIFE CIRCUMSPECTLY*
Joel.1.3 - Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
So, whatever you communicate to your children now will eventually get to your children's children. That is why you can't afford to live your life anyhow and leave it to chance.
There is a demand on you to leave right.
*Carelessness will be cured if you think generation next.*
Do you know your entire life is a seed that the next generation with harvest?
Take a case Study of two people.
1. King Hezekiah
In 2kings 20:1-21, Hezekiah was sick and God gave him additional 15years because he simply didn't want to accept God's will for him to die.
The additional 15 years was terrible because that was when he put the upcoming generation in trouble.
See verse 16-19
2Kgs.20.16 - And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
2Kgs.20.17 - Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
2Kgs.20.18 - And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
2Kgs.20.19 - *Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?*
Part of the result of Hezekiah's 15 years extension is the birth if Manasseh, who was 12years by the time Hezekiah died. And Manasseh committed all sort of abominable things during his reign.
The bottom line is that Hezekiah didn't accept God's will in death to save his upcoming generation. It is better to accept God's will because in God's will is the preservation of your coming generations.
2. King David
This is a man that laid a good legacy of Giving for his son Solomon.
2Sam 6:12&13
Vs 13 - And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD *had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.*
It was easy for Solomon to have sacrificed 1000 animals in one day because his father David modeled it for him.
A rhetorical question for you:. *What are you modeling for the next generation?*
The life we live as Christians was modeled for us by Jesus.
Jesus thought of us who will come out of His loins that was why he went to the cross like a sheep led the the slaughter without uttering a word.
Finally, I end with this: when you think the next generation, you will live circumspectly.
*Prov.13.22 - A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children...*
